How India manages its National Security
About the Author
Arvind Gupta is one of India’s foremost strategic thinkers and national security practitioners. He served as Deputy National Security Advisor of India and has been closely associated with the country’s evolving security architecture at the highest levels of policymaking. Over the course of his career, he has worked extensively on strategic affairs, nuclear policy, emerging technologies, and international security.
He has also served as Director General of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), now the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, where he contributed significantly to India’s strategic discourse. Unlike purely academic commentators, Gupta writes from the vantage point of both scholarship and statecraft. His work reflects the perspective of someone who has observed India’s national security machinery from within its operational core.
